Double Your Conversions, ‘like overnight dude’

by Trisha

How easy is it to increase conversions in a day??? It CAN be as simple as one image. Images incite feelings. Colors create a mood, nobody will argue these concepts. But when it comes to internet marketing do the right images really help sell a product? I’m gonna get down and dirty with the most important aspects of design for internet marketing.

Marketing tests have shown since the beginning of advertising the effects of good images and design, especially where you place specific images in your design.

Brad Fallon (stomper extraordinaire) on his website myweddingfavors.com moved the hackersafe logo from the bottom of the page, right up into the header. Though its ugly and not really part of the design… it sure is now! because it increased conversions immediately. You better believe its now a permanent fixture, at the top of his website.

Brad and Andy Jenkins did a video called “ClickFu: Double Your Conversions” in a series for their Stompernet.com website. They used eye tracking software to follow what their visitors eyes actually see on their webpages, concluding that our peripheral vision dictates where we go online. When something jumps out at you and catches your eye… plain and simple, you look at it. And it accounts for 20% of YOUR business! Now images are becoming important, and can give you insight into exactly what to put exactly where on your page.

Here’s an example from the video. A plain text, left side, navigation bar on your page can cost you 25% of all of your traffic. Include image links in your page showcasing your most important features or products, and that traffic now converts.

Notice the image/textlinks circled in orange. The eye will automatically see the images, especially if someone is looking for this type of product.

They’ve also incorporated something REALLY cool into this website… a product finder. This is a fantastic way to get a prospect immediately involved in a shopping experience, and a very helpful one at that. They will be shown products according to their style preference. Would you think this helps conversions? you bet it does. This guy tests his site so much, if its there… it works.

Also, notice the HackerSafe and Live Help logos all the way up at the top, to help visitors feel safe and gain trust. I notice that since the videos, the logo had been redesigned to match the website. No more ugly black hacker safe logo, and it keeps converting.

Take another look at your website. Better yet, give a fresh pair of eyes a peek and ask them, whats the first thing you see. What feeling do you get from this website. And without much reading… what kind of impression do you get, does it cause any specific feelings? Make sure the things you want them to see are obviously apparent.

Best of Luck on a beautiful design!
